Common Core State Standards

Educational standards describe what students should know and be able to do in each subject in each grade. In California, the State Board of Education decides on the standards for all students, from kindergarten through high school.

Since 2010, a number of states across the nation have adopted the same standards for English and math. These standards are called the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). Having the same standards helps all students get a good education, even if they change schools or move to a different state. Teachers, parents, and education experts designed the standards to prepare students for success in college and the workplace.

Estándares Estatales Centrales Comunes

Los estándares educativos describen lo que los estudiantes deben saber y poder hacer en cada materia en cada grado. En California, la Junta de Educación del Estado decide sobre los estándares para todos los estudiantes, desde el jardín de infantes hasta la escuela secundaria.

Desde 2010, varios estados en todo el país han adoptado los mismos estándares para el inglés y las matemáticas. Estos estándares se llaman Estándares Estatales Básicos Comunes (CCSS). El tener los mismos estándares ayuda a todos los estudiantes a obtener una buena educación, incluso si cambian de escuela o se mudan a un estado diferente. Los maestros, padres y expertos en educación diseñaron los estándares para preparar a los estudiantes para el éxito en la universidad y el lugar de trabajo.
